Ingram awaiting results of MRI

Florida tight end Cornelius Ingram turned down the opportunity to go to the NFL last spring to return for a senior season that now could be in jeopardy.
Ingram, a former Hawthorne High star, injured his knee in practice during a one-on-one drill Tuesday. Ingram walked off the practice field to the locker room without help and without a noticeable limp.
The extent of the injury is unknown, UF coach Urban Meyer said after Wednesday's practice.
"He's got a strained knee and we're waiting on MRI results right now," Meyer said.
Meyer said he expected to find out the seriousness of the injury either Wednesday night or this morning.
If the MRI reveals significant cartilage and/or ligament damage, Ingram could be sidelined for an extended period of time, maybe even for the season. If it is only a strain or a sprain, it is conceivable he could return for the Aug. 30 opener.
Cornelius was a major component in the Gators' passing game last season as a junior, catching 34 passes for 508 yards and seven touchdowns. After seriously considering entering the NFL Draft last spring, he decided to return for his senior season.
In an interview Monday, the day before the injury, Ingram said he had no regrets about his decision to return.
"I knew I had a lot of stuff to work on (to get ready for the NFL) and I knew we were going to have a pretty good team," he said. "I'm still trying to work and get better at a lot of things. I feel good about the whole situation."
If the injury is not serious, Ingram is expected to be a major playmaker in the offense, along with fellow tight end Aaron Hernandez. Ingram and Hernandez have been so impressive that Meyer and offensive coordinator Dan Mullen have put in a two tight end package in the spread offense.
In other injury news, wide receiver Percy Harvin (heel) continues to be a spectator at practice, while tailback Chris Rainey was held out of practice Wednesday with a groin injury. Meyer said Rainey should be back in a few days.
"It's (an injury) he's had since running track (earlier this summer)," Meyer said. "He's had it for a little bit, so they're going to shut him down for a couple of days. I don't see him missing too much."
True freshman tailback Jeffrey Demps injured what appeared to be his knee or ankle on the final play in practice, but Meyer said it does not appear serious.
"I think he's fine," Meyer said.
Also, sophomore defensive lineman Justin Trattou missed practice with the flu, while true freshman defensive tackle Omar Hunter was held out of contact drills with a sore back.
"I'm anticipating on Friday they're going to cut (Hunter) loose," Meyer said.
