UF men's hoops unveils schedule

Florida released its 2008-09 men's basketball schedule Wedesday.

The Gators will play 19 home games and will have neutral-court games in Orlando, Jacksonville and Sunrise this season.

The regular season opens Nov. 14 at the O'Connell Center, when Florida plays in the opening-round of the O'Reilly Auto Parts Classic. The opponents of the opening two rounds, to be played at the O'Connell Center, will be announced next month. After a home game against Southern Utah, the Gators will then travel to Kansas City, Mo., for the final two games on the classic, setting up potential matchups with Syracuse, Washington and defending national champion Kansas.

Other highlights of the non-conference schedule include a game at Florida State on Dec. 7 and a CBS nationally televised home game Jan. 3 against North Carolina State.

Florida opens Southeastern Conference play Jan. 10 at home against Ole Miss and closes SEC play with a March 7 home game against Kentucky. In all, the Gators have nine definite games on national television this season, with four games scheduled to appear on ESPN, four on CBS and one on ABC (a Feb. 14 game at Georgia).
