No. 9 — Brandon Spikes

Florida junior middle linebacker

Why he's No. 9: Spikes ranked second in the conference with 131 total tackles as a sophomore en route to being named first-team All-SEC. This member of UF's Leadership Committee also looked his most comfortable during spring practice, making plays all over the field while also directing teammates.

Key number: 1. As in 2009 first-round NFL draft projection. Scout.com lists Spikes as the No. 32 rated prospect (which, if held to form, would make him the final pick of the opening round), but adds he has "top-15 potential if he has a big junior year." Foxsports.com, among others, also lists Spikes as a first-rounder. Also, on his first-ever snap as a collegian (against Southern Miss in 2006) made a tackle.

Fun fact: Wore a much-discussed (and photographed) pink suit on the plane ride to the 2006 BCS title game in Arizona. The outfit was made by his mother.
