No. 20 — Captain Munnerlyn

South Carolina

Junior cornerback

Why he's No. 20: A returning first-team All-SEC coaches selection, Munnerlyn not only has one of college football's best names, he also intercepted three passes as a sophomore. And despite his slight frame (5-foot-9, 185), he could be called Captain Crunch after a few sturdy hits last season. In addition to his defensive duties, Munnerlyn is a capable punt and kickoff returner. A burner, the former Junior Olympics competitor has been clocked at 10.53 in the 100 and 22.43 in the 200.

Key number: 4. The Gamecocks had the nation's No. 4-ranked pass defense in 2007, and Munnerlyn was considered the team's top cover corner.

Fun fact: Showing how inexact rankings of high school players is, Munnerlyn was rated as just a two-star prospect by Rivals.com coming out of Mobile (Ala.) Murphy High School in 2006.
