Body of UF student found in apt. pool

A University of Florida engineering graduate student was found dead in a pool at a southwest Gainesville apartment complex early Thursday.
Authorities will need autopsy results to determine what caused the 26-year-old's death, said Gainesville Police spokeswoman Officer Summer Hallett.
Police did not release the man's name because they were trying to locate his family in China.
UF police assisted investigators by providing an emergency contact for the man in China and by locating an interpreter, said UF Police Lt. Robert Wagner.
The man had been a resident at the Sun Island apartment complex, 999 SW 16th Ave., according to police.
The wife of a resident at the complex initially spotted someone or something in the pool early Thursday, Hallett said. Her husband checked the water and discovered the student's body shortly before 7 a.m.
The student's flip flops were found by the side of the pool, and he was wearing swim trunks, according to officers.
Police could not say when the man died.
"We don't know how long he was in the pool," Hallett said.
But police reported there was no sign of trauma to the body. "There were no obvious injuries," said Lt. Will Halvosa.
Hallett said police wanted to gather additional information from the man's family, such as if he had a history of any medical problems, that would help them determine what happened.
