The Putnam County Sheriff's Office was investigating a suspicious death in the Melrose area, the agency reported Thursday.
James Thomas Stewart, 66, was found dead at his home at 109 Cherry Laurel Drive Thursday morning. Deputies had been contacted to check on Stewart and found his body shortly before 10:30 a.m.
The Sheriff's Office reported that foul play was “apparent” in connection with Stewart's death but did not elaborate further on what they found at the scene.
