Santa Fe Community College Police are investigating an accident involving a
vehicle and a pedestrian that occurred on campus Thursday afternoon.
SFCC student Liz Choi, 21, of Gainesville, was injured in the accident,
which occurred shortly before 1 p.m. at the SFCC Northwest Campus, 3000 NW
83rd St., said SFCC Police Chief Daryl Johnston.
Another student, Klara Esposito, 18, of Ormond-By-The-Sea, had been
driving south on Service Drive when Choi appeared on the roadway, Johnston
said. Preliminary information from witnesses reported Choi ran between two
parked cars and into the path of the oncoming vehicle.
Choi was taken for treatment to Shands at the University of Florida,
Johnston said. An update on her condition was not immediately available
Thursday night.
