A Lake City teenager was seriously injured in a Columbia County crash involving a bicycle and a car Wednesday afternoon, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
Trevor Judy, 13, had been bicycling north on Country Club Road at about 3:45 p.m. and failed to stop at a traffic signal at the Baya Avenue intersection, according to troopers. The signal had turned red for northbound traffic when a 2003 Ford Mustang traveling west entered the intersection was hit by the bicycle.
Judy was ejected from the bicycle and suffered serious injuries in the crash. Troopers reported the injured youth was taken to Shands at the University of Florida.
The car's driver, Alisha M. Phillips, 24, of Lake City, was not injured in the crash.
