Four basketball players from The Rock have made their college decisions, according to boys coach Svend Wilbekin. Trae Mayberry has signed a national letter of intent with St. Johns River Community College, and Anton Tuz (Tusculum College) and Borgia M'Bala (Bluefield College) have received partial scholarships. Girls standout Saule Kontautaite, a first-team all-area guard, has signed with Weatherford College in Texas. Also, former P.K. Yonge guard Travis Johnson has signed a national letter of intent with Central Florida Community College.

Eastside girls soccer standout Kelly Masteller is set to sign a national letter of intent with the University of South Florida at 3:15 p.m. Friday in the EHS media center, according to Rams' athletic director Justin Harrison.

Suwannee's Victoria Wood recently was named to the FHSAA's 2008 Academic All-State team. The school valedictorian, Wood carries a 4.0 grade point average and has lettered in tennis, swimming and soccer. She plans to attend Florida State, where she hopes to study finance.

Gainesville High School picked up a potentially big football transfer this week. Calvin Lecorn, the younger brother of South Carolina receiver Dion Lecorn, has enrolled at the school. A sophomore-to-be, Calvin is expected to play defensive back for the Hurricanes, according to coach Ryan Smith.

Buchholz is looking for a boys tennis coach. Interested applicants should contact Bobcats' athletic director Steve Ellard during school hours at 352-955-6702.
