Officers in Clay County are launching their boating safety program this month as more people hit the water in Florida.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office Marine Unit will be giving away T-shirts to kids who are wearing approved personal flotation devices while boating, the Sheriff's Office reported. The life jackets must be in “good and serviceable” condition, the right size for the child and U.S. Coast Guard approved.

Several area businesses are sponsoring the program, which will run through the spring and summer as long as the T-shirt supply lasts.
