Lake City Police were searching Thursday for a gunman who held up a

Columbia County bank.

The man stole an undetermined amount of money from the Bank of America,

355 SW Bentley Place, Wednesday afternoon, according to police. The robbery

occurred at about 2:45 p.m.

The robber was armed with a chrome-plated, semi-automatic style handgun,

police reported. No one was injured during the robbery. But one of the

bank's tellers fainted and was treated at the scene.

The man fled from the bank on foot and was seen headed toward a wooded

area west of the building.

The suspect kept his face covered during the robbery. Police, however, are

hoping someone might recognize the clothing he was wearing. He had on a

baseball cap, dark glasses and a light-colored jacket that may have been

light blue or gray. A scarf or bandanna was used to cover his face. He also

appeared to have curly blonde, shoulder-length hair that may have been a

wig.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Sgt. Clint

VanBennekom at (386) 752-4344 or the police department tip line at (386)

719-2068.
