Roughly 3,000 customers along NW 13th Street lost power for 13 minutes this afternoon when routine maintenance work cut power to the area.

Gainesville Regional Utilities spokesman Dan Jesse said customers near the Applebee's on NW 13th Street lost power from 12:37 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. when an electrical failure occurred during system maintenance.

"We're not sure what happened, whether something loose fell apart in the system or whether some connection was disengaged during the maintenance, but we know it took about 13 minutes to get back up," Jesse said.
