Alachua County Animal Services has entered a contest officials are hoping

the public will help the agency win.

The county's animal services agency is participating in a contest,

sponsored by, to win a makeover of their facilities, the county

announced last week.

Residents can support the county agency by logging on to and

registering as a community member, earning points. The more points, the

higher the shelter is ranked in the contest.

A panel of judges will evaluate the 20 shelters with the most points after

March 31, according to the county. The top prize could be a $1 million

makeover of the shelter. Winners will be announced May 1.
