In Suwannee County, a crash involving a go-cart and a pick-up left two minors injured and the mother of both children charged with allowing an unauthorized minor to drive, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Shadrick X. Robinson, 13, was driving a single-seat gas-powered go-cart at 4 p.m. Saturday with 3-year-old Chloe L. Robinson was riding between his legs.
According to FHP, the go-cart was headed east on the shoulder of 40th Street, approximately 7 miles north of Live Oak, when it pulled out in front of a truck, also headed east on 40th Street. Driver Leslie Smith, 23, stopped her truck after running over the left front of the go-cart.
Shadrick Robinson was taken to Shands at Live Oak with serious injuries, and Chloe Robinson was transported to the same hospital with minor injuries.
The children's mother, Angela Marie Robinson, has been charged with allowing an unauthorized minor to drive, according to FHP.
