SANFORD, Fla. - A judge, instead of a jury, will hear the trial of Lake Mary man who is charged with fatally stabbing his wife and son on the boy's 11th birthday.
Authorities say Franklyn Duzant decapitated his wife, Evangeline, 52, and nearly decapitated his son, Nico, with a samurai sword in June 2006.
Duzant faces two counts of first-degree murder.
Seminole Circuit Court Judge Donna McIntosh announced a Feb. 27 trial date during a brief hearing Friday at the Seminole County courthouse.
