The Alachua County Foster Grandparent Program is looking for volunteers to work with children, the county announced.

The program is seeking adults who will assist special-needs children, especially those in local child-care centers and after-school programs.

Volunteers work one-on-one with a child, 15 to 40 hours a week. They receive an hourly stipend of $2.65, a daily meal, assistance with transportation, an annual physical examination, and supplemental insurance. Alachua County residents 60-years-old or older who live on a limited income are encouraged to apply.

The next training session for volunteers starts on Feb. 25.
