SR 100 closed next week


Eastbound traffic from SR 100 will be detoured south onto Thompson Street, east to South Street, north to Cherry Street and back to SR 100.

State Road 100, east of U.S. 301 in Starke, will be closed for two weeks starting next week to replace a railroad crossing, the Florida Department of Transportation announced.

The road closure starts Monday at 9 a.m., according to FDOT. Traffic will be detoured until work is completed. Crews anticipate construction will be finished by Jan. 25 at 5 p.m.

Eastbound traffic will be detoured south onto Thompson Street, east to South Street, north to Cherry Street and back to SR 100. Vehicles heading west will travel south onto Cherry Street, west onto South Street, north onto Thompson Street and back to SR 100.

Starke Police will be assisting motorists with the detour, according to FDOT.

About 11,500 vehicles use this section of SR 100 every day.
