Fog but few wrecks on local roads

Fog, warmer temperatures and some vehicle crashes greeted college students
returning to school Monday in Alachua County.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers were investigating wrecks on Hawthorne
Road and SE 43rd Street and another on the Interstate 75 northbound exit
ramp at Archer Road at about 9:30 a.m. No road blocks were reported.
Traffic was busier in Gainesville Monday morning, but Gainesville Police
did not report any major problems on city roads.
A dense fog advisory was in effect until about 10 a.m. in several North
Florida counties including Alachua, Bradford, Columbia, Marion, Putnam,
Suwannee and Union counties, the National Weather Service in Jacksonville
Temperatures were expected to remain mild throughout the week with highs
in the 70s and lows in the 50s, according to forecasters. Friday should
bring showers with a 50 percent chance of rain predicted.
