APOPKA, Fla. - Apopka police say a man faces a charge of attempted murder for severely burning a 1 year-old with a blow dryer.
Darlanne Toussaint is accused of burning and beating his girlfriend's toddler.
An arrest report says the 24-year-old Toussaint told police he shook the child violently when he wouldn't stop crying. He also said he used the blow dryer on the boy and smashed his chest and back with his fist.
The toddler is in stable condition at a hospital. He is being treated for second-degree burns and a spine fracture.
Toussaint is being held without bond at the Orange County Jail. His court appearance is Friday afternoon. Jail records do not list an attorney for him.
