A blaze started at a one-story house at 7708 Railroad Drive and was reported at about 11 p.m. Thursday, said Alachua County Fire Rescue spokeswoman Megan Crandall.

No one was injured in the fire, Crandall said. Firefighters were able to save the residents' dog from the backyard.

The cause of the blaze was not known. An investigator had been called to try and determine where and how the fire started, Crandall said.

Firefighters from Alachua County, Melrose and Waldo responded to the fire.
