The body of a 61-year-old man was discovered near a N. Main Street building Wednesday morning, Gainesville Police reported.
Shortly before 8 a.m., a passerby reported seeing a man on the ground in the area of 1 NW 10th Ave., said Lt. Will Halvosa.
Police did not find any evidence of foul play, noting the man did not appear to be injured and still had his belongings.
The man, who was not immediately identified by officers trying to locate his family, had been the subject of several medical-related calls over the past several weeks, Halvosa said. Officers reported the man was homeless but frequented the area near where his body was located.
Officers were trying to locate people who knew the man and could provide information about his whereabouts earlier in the week.
Police could not say if cold weather was a factor in the man's death. Temperatures near freezing were reported overnight in Gainesville by the National Weather Service in Jacksonville.
