Blankets needed for cold nights

The Alachua County Coalition for the Homeless and Hungry is asking for donations of clean used or new blankets.

The blankets will be distributed to help the homeless in the Gainesville area during the cold winter nights. Coalition officials estimate 400 people go without shelter most nights.

Blanket donations are being accepted at:

Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 100 NE 1st St., Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. -5 p.m.

Fire of God Ministries, 1414 NE 23rd Ave., Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-noon.

Congregation B'Nai Israel (east entrance), 3830 NW 16th Blvd., Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

United Way of North Central Florida, 6031 NW 1st Place (south on NW 62nd Street next to Oaks Mall, 2nd left), Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Trinity United Methodist Church, 4000 NW 53rd Ave. (Youth Building), Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

University of Florida Law School, 2500 SW 2nd Ave. (Career Services Office, 2nd floor), Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
