Call it "mid-day madness."
Florida announced plans for its men's and women's basketball Fan Appreciation Day, to be held Oct. 21 at the O'Connell Center.
Doors will open at 2 p.m. and an autograph session will follow from 2:30-4 p.m. for men's and women's players.
At 4, the women's team will be introduced, followed by introductions for the men's team at 4:30. Both teams will hold various skill competitions and the men's team will scrimmage following introductions.
Florida basketball coach Billy Donovan decided to scrap Midnight Madness festivities which had been held annually at the O'Dome since 1999. The event was traditionally held the midnight of the second Friday of October to usher in the official start of men's and women's Division I practices.
