Deputies have arrested a Lake City man accused of trying to kill his two daughters and his granddaughter earlier this week.

Henry L. Lamb, 55, is facing three counts of attempted murder, burglary while armed, grand theft auto, fleeing and attempting to elude and violating an injunction, the Suwannee County Sheriff's Office reported. He was being held without bond at the jail Friday.

Officers allege Lamb shot one of his daughters twice at her home Tuesday morning at about 9 a.m. Lori Lamb, 37, was struck in the chest and back, said Suwannee County Sheriff Tony Cameron. She was being treated at Shands at the University of Florida, where the sheriff said she was last listed in stable but serious condition.

Cameron said Lamb had been involved in an ongoing domestic problem with his estranged wife. His daughters believe they may have been targeted because he thought they had taken his wife's side in the dispute, Cameron said.

The man went to his daughter's home at County Road 252 and CR 49, about 10 miles south of Live Oak, Tuesday and fired at Lori Lamb, while she was inside vacuuming, Cameron said. "She felt something hit her chest and thought something had slung off the vacuum cleaner," he said.

Deputies allege Henry Lamb also tried to shoot his other daughter, who also was at the home, and his granddaughter before he fled after a neighbor drove by the residence.

Both times that Henry Lamb tried to fire a gun at his other two relatives, the weapon misfired, Cameron said.

Officers located Henry Lamb several hours later driving on CR 252, Cameron said.

The sheriff spotted the man's vehicle and attempted to pull over the pickup. Henry Lamb drove to a nearby farm, got out and tried to escape into the woods, Cameron said, at which point Cameron said he stopped the suspect at gunpoint and arrested him.

Officers believe Henry Lamb may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the shooting based on tests taken hours later after he was located, Cameron said.

Henry Lamb had been arrested earlier in August on charges of burglary, cocaine and marijuana possession and violating an injunction, Suwannee County jail records show.
