The Volunteer Center of North Central Florida will close its doors Sept. 30, according to interim director Pat Bellis.
The non-profit center has served Alachua County residents for 35 years through such programs as Hope for the Holidays and Thanksgiving basket giveaways that serve hundreds of needy families.
"We've exhausted all potential sources of funding with no positive results," Bellis said Wednesday.
The center is seeking other agencies that might be willing to pick up the programs that have become almost a tradition in the county.
