A truck, hauling an auto trailer carrying seven vehicles, crashed Tuesday afternoon in Columbia County when a tire on the vehicle blew out, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Cornelius Van Bryant Jr., 55, of Jacksonville was in critical condition following the wreck, which occurred at about 2:40 p.m., according to troopers.

Bryant had been driving east on State Road 8 and was approaching the northbound ramp onto Interstate 75 when the truck's front tire started to shred, troopers reported. The truck ran off the left side of the ramp and rolled over.

Bryant was not wearing a seat belt, troopers reported.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident, according to FHP.
