Rhonda Faehn saw one of her dreams for the Gators gymnastics program come to fruition Thursday.

The NCAA named Florida the host school for the 2010 NCAA gymnastics championships, as well as the 2008 NCAA Southeast Regional. Both events will be held in the O'Connell Center.

"Obviously from the moment I stepped onto the University of Florida campus I always wanted to have the opportunity to have the national championship here because it is a phenomenal event," Faehn said.

This will mark the third time the Gators have hosted the NCAA gymnastics championships. Florida also hosted the event in 1986 and in 1997. The Gators finished eighth in 1986 and fifth in 1997.

The Gators will be hosting their 10th regional next season and first since 2005. Florida advanced to the NCAA Championships in the previous nine regionals it has hosted.

"When I found out that we would be hosting I can't begin to express how excited I was and how thrilled we are about this," Faehn said. "It's an honor to be able to host this."
