I wish I could afford to fly out of Gainesville

There has been a lot in the paper recently about the Gainesville airport and the newly remodeled entrance and terminal. I probably won't see it.

I just tried to schedule my vacation flights from the local airport, but then I checked the prices of the same flights out of Jacksonville. It seems there is only a price difference of over $200. For a person with a lot of money, this may be minor. But for me, I can drive to Jacksonville, store the vehicle, pay for the gas, buy some souvenirs, and still have money left over.

I would like to fly using the Gainesville Airport, but the convenience is not worth that much money to me. If it was a $50 to $75 difference, I would probably use the local facility, but money is the difference. Maybe the airlines and airport management can figure out how to compete with Jacksonville ... but is that in the foreseeable future?
