Quick, deadly and efficient

Jay Carter's somewhat facetious letter of May 29 certainly makes a point. Swords, used improperly, can kill people. However, how often are there drive-by sword stabbings, or for that matter, drive-by spear or knife throwings?
And certainly a would-be sniper or mass killer would be considerably less effective with a bow and arrow than a firearm. It's the ease of use, the ability to rapidly load and reload, and the long distance deadliness that make guns the danger that they are.
I own guns and have been a hunter for over 45 years, so I think I know what they can do and why they are a weapon of choice for someone bent on doing a lot of horrendous damage fast.
