JACKSONVILLE -- Six men were injured Tuesday in two separate shootings in a neighborhood near downtown, authorities said.
Authorities believe the two shootings, about a block apart, are connected. None of the injuries were considered life threatening, said Melissa Bujeda, Jacksonville Sheriff's spokeswoman.
Four people sitting on a front porch were shot at the first location and two other people were shot at the second location, said Ken Jefferson, sheriff's office spokesman. All were shot with birdshot.
At both locations the victims the shot were fired from a car, but it was unclear whether they came from a single weapon. At the second location the victims shot back, but it was unclear with what kind of weapon, Jefferson said.
All the injured victims appeared to know each other, Jefferson said.
"We do believe all are known to each other. We don't know what the dispute was," Jefferson said.
It also was not known whether the shooter or shooters were at large or among the victims.
The shooting occurred in the Talleyrand area near Jacksonville Memorial Stadium.
