For several years now I've been reading the mostly negative letters about President Bush and his role in the war in Iraq. I've been very reluctant to respond knowing the partisan atmosphere in this country over the war.
As a Vietnam veteran who remembers very vividly the hatred against soldiers then - and now with a son and son-in-law both in the infantry serving their second combat tours in Iraq - the American public and political attitude of defeat and acrimony is very real to me.
When you go shopping to your favorite mall, sit in a sports stadium, fly to visit friends and relatives or go on vacation to Disney World and a Muslim extremist kills you, a family member or other innocent people, maybe then the real "inconvenient truth" will finally dawn on you.
