Speak up about local problems

I am happy to finally see some letters in this column about local problems rather than all the Bush bashing. It's just that enough is enough, and the Iraq war (support the troops) plus many other global problems get beat to death.
But isn't it time more letters be written to complain about our local problems? We still have high spenders. Our local politicians want to satisfy their dreams and not the voters' traffic problems. The trash along our roads is disgusting, and if commissioners don't know where it's coming from, call me and I will tell them.
Then we have overdevelopment paid for with tax break incentives, high property taxes, CHOICES and many other problems in this county that voters need to be voicing their opinions about. If local commissioners read this section maybe they will have a sense of what the people really feel about them, rather than them thinking they are pulling the wool over our eyes.
It is your civic duty to speak up. And be loud when you do it, because they are a bit on the deaf side, if you haven't noticed.

Walter Starr,

Gainesville
