Construction begins in a couple weeks on the 240 homes and townhomes at the new "maintenance-free" Grand Prairie at Kanapaha development, which is holding an open house this weekend.
The development is on 40 acres of former prairie on the 7500 block of SW Archer Road, 2.7 miles west of Interstate 75. It will include 160 townhomes and 80 single-family homes.
The Cornerstone Group of Coral Gables has preserved most of the large oak trees, building parks around them, according to Mike Brinegar, vice president of Cornerstone's Central Florida Townhome Division.
Prices range from the low $200,000s to the high $300,000s. Eleven models are offered from 1,500 to 2,400 square feet. Townhomes are two-bed double master and an optional third-story loft. Single-family homes include mostly three-bed, two-bath with one four-bed model. All are concrete block and stucco.
The development will include a swimming pool and clubhouse with wireless Internet access, a gathering room and exercise room.
Sales start today and prices will be lower for earlier buyers, Brinegar said.
The open house is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
