A Haines City man wanted in last week's rape of a University of Florida student at her home, north of the college campus, was arrested during the weekend, police reports show.
Reginald Roy Phillips Jr., 23, was being held at the Alachua County jail Tuesday on a $100,000 bond, jail records showed.
Gainesville Police obtained an arrest warrant for Phillips last week after the 21-year-old woman reported she had been attacked in her home by an acquaintance.
Officers alleged Phillips had been at a party and stayed at the victim's home afterward. But, while she was sleeping, police reported he entered her room and raped her. She woke up and chased him away with a baseball bat, according to police.
The attack was reported the same day police learned another 21-year-old college student, living in the same area, had been raped by a stranger who broke into her home. That case remains under investigation by police. Phillips is not a suspect in that investigation, officers have said.
