In response to R.D. Wallace's Jan. 3 letter, the airport has been working with the University Athletic Association to utilize one of the advertising display cases near the baggage claim area to recognize the University of Florida men's basketball team as the 2006 National Champions.
The UAA is in the process of providing the artwork for the advertising display case.
In addition, we are awaiting a proposal from a local sign company to install three-dimensional welcome signs in the area that connects the boarding bridges to the terminal, so passengers will be embraced by the sign as they enter the airport from the aircraft.
Wallace mentioned the renovation to the passenger terminal, which will include new carpet as well as (blue) signage. The interior will be painted, and a number of changes will be made to give the terminal a much brighter, more welcoming ambiance.
There will also be a new food concession area, and the current atrium will be enclosed to utilize that space for passengers waiting in the gate area.
These enhancements are just the beginning of our efforts to improve the airport and provide a welcoming environment for passengers.
