Support the road extension

There have been so many negative comments about the extension of NW 83rd Street from NW 39th Avenue to Millhopper Road that I feel compelled to write.
I have lived off Millhopper Road, between NW 43rd Street and CR 241 North, since 1987. I have seen many changes as many more subdivisions were added. The road used to carry a 55 mph speed limit but was changed to 40 mph to make the road safer for all people using it.
But this change of extending the road will be good. There are so many more people living off this road that use it as their only means to travel.
There is no north-to-south road that goes through for seven miles. What if there was a disaster that shuts down a part of the road? What do the people who travel on this road for emergency reasons think?
Yes, I wish the road could be as it was 20 years ago. But that is not realistic. Please give thoughtful consideration to supporting this road extension.

Gainesville
