UF panel to address shared governance

University of Florida faculty members are invited to attend a discussion titled "Conversation about Shared Governance: Part II" at Emerson Alumni Hall on Thursday.
The daylong event begins at 8:30 a.m. with a panel discussion. Visiting speakers, Frank Cerra of the University of Minnesota and Bernice Durand of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, are scheduled to speak at 9:50. The panel will be followed by an open discussion period and president-sponsored lunch.
Afternoon workshops will be held from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. Topics include "Faculty Senate Councils: Their Role in Shared Governance," "Implementing Shared Governance in (Health Science Center) Colleges," and "Developing Constitutions: Positive Strides." Attendees may select one workshop to attend, since they will run concurrently.
Representatives from the College of Design, Construction and Planning and the College of Dentistry will speak at the conclusion of the event.

Woman charged for putting baby in oven

ORLANDO - A woman was charged with aggravated child abuse for putting her baby in an oven, turning it on and leaving her apartment after fighting with her boyfriend, police said.
The oven had not gotten hot enough to burn the child, whose age was not immediately available.
