Let us consider the matter of the minimum wage from an intelligent perspective. Why should citizens allow (let alone encourage) a governmental entity to place restrictions on every individual work contract entered into by citizens?
If a worker is not able to produce greater value than his (or her) wage, a company cannot afford to hire that worker. Therefore the major function of raising the minimum wage is to either a.) decrease the purchasing power of the dollar, or b.) to cause people who can produce less to be unemployable Which of these options is desirable?
As Ronald Reagan so accurately put it, The government is not the solution. The government is the problem.

John Hasse,
