Age has nothing to do with it

In her January 2 letter, Maria Victoria Ayarza, questions the foreign policy of President George W. Bush. She goes on to say that "maybe this is the moment in time when the youngest" will stand up and be heard.
I congratulate her on becoming politically active. The future does depend on Maria and her generation. However, I hope Maria will brush up on her critical thinking skills. She concludes that because she disagrees with the president's policies it must be due to his age. This sounds a little like ageism.
If her conclusion were true then everyone Bush's age would think the same. I am the same age as President Bush and believe me we do not agree on most issues. I hope as she matures she will learn to consider all the facts and be aware of biases before making judgments and arriving at conclusions.
