On the last day of the 2006, American deaths in Iraq reached 3,000. That 3,000 is not just a statistic - that's 3,000 sons, daughters, husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, and friends. In addition, over 45,000 of our citizens have been wounded and maimed in this war.
The number of Iraqi deaths has soared to hundreds of thousands. Countless homes and families have been destroyed. Over $350 billion of taxpayers' money has been invested in this war. How can we continue to condone these losses?
The president can't make up for the mistakes that led us to war in Iraq. But he can stop ignoring the facts, ignoring the experts and ignoring the legitimate concerns of the American people. We must get out of this dishonorable war.
