Randy Quaid, brother of Dennis Quaid, was born in Houston on this date in 1950. Quaid earned an Oscar nomination early in his career starring opposite Jack Nicholson in 1973's "The Last Detail." In addition to serious performances in dramas such as "Days of Thunder," he has shown a flair for humor as the obnoxious cousin Eddie in several National Lampoon "Vacation" flicks and in the 1996 comedy "Kingpin." In 2005, he obtained a third Emmy nomination for best supporting actor in the TV movie "Elvis." He also appeared in the critically acclaimed drama "Brokeback Mountain" and has been chosen to play King Carlos IV in the upcoming historical epic "Goya's Ghosts."
