Susan Carol Sams Bublitz

  • Susan Carol Sams Bublitz of Lake Butler died Saturday at her home following an extended illness.
    She was 42. Mrs. Bublitz was born in Covington, Ky., and lived in Lake Butler most of her life. She was a correctional officer at Florida State Prison in Raiford until ill health forced her retirement. She enjoyed going to the beach, traveling and camping with her husband. She was a Baptist.
    Survivors include her husband, Leslie Laverne Bublitz of Lake Butler; daughters Stacy Godwin of Lawtey and Tracy Smith, Virginia Bublitz and Krystal Tucker, all of Lake Butler; a son, Joseph Bublitz of Lake Butler; her parents, Don and Ann Sams of Lake Butler; sisters Robin Johnson, Lisa Sams and Sheila Sams, all of Lake Butler; her maternal grandmother, Dema Barker of Lake Butler; and three grandchildren.

    Daniel Ervin Parrish

  • Daniel Ervin "Dan" Parrish of Lake Butler died Sunday at his home following an extended illness.
    He was 69. Mr. Parrish was born in Union County and moved back to his birthplace from Largo in 1970. He was a retired carpenter and cabinetmaker. He was a Baptist.
    He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Ernest "Robbie" Parrish.
    Survivors include his wife, Minnie Alice McLeod Parrish of Lake Butler; daughters Elaine Redding of Lake Butler and Kathy Hughes of Jacksonville; sons Gary Daniel Parrish of Crystal River, Charles Haywood "Chuck" Parrish of Lake Butler, and Keith Benjamin Parrish and Kevin Lloyd Parrish, both of Raiford; sisters Evelyn Crawford of Lake Butler, Jeanette Phillips of Dunnellon and Sally Ann Bennett of Blackshear, Ga.; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grand- children.

    Jimmy Uvon Thornton

  • Jimmy Uvon Thornton of Starke died Friday in Starke from a heart attack that led to a car accident.
    He was 68. Mr. Thornton was a lifelong Bradford County resident. He retired from E.I. du Pont where he worked as a mechanic for 33 years. He served with the Florida National Guard for 15 years. He was a lifelong member of the Pine Level Baptist Church in Starke.
    He was preceded in death by a son, Marlon Thornton.
    Survivors include his wife, Marie Thornton of Starke; daughters Cynthia Dowdy of Danville, Va., and Donna Milner of Starke; a son, Shane Thornton of Brooker; brothers Vernie Thornton of Starke and Joe Thornton of Lake Butler; sisters Faye Albritton and Connie Davis, both of Lake Butler; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

    Margaret Francis Muhlbauer

  • Margaret Francis Muhlbauer of Gainesville died Saturday at her home. She was 89.
    Mrs. Muhlbauer was born in Washington, D.C., and moved to Gainesville from Palm Springs six years ago. She was a homemaker and a Lutheran.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, George Muhlbauer, and a son, George Muhlbauer.
    Survivors include a daughter, Karen Markey of Gainesville; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
