Alachua County third-graders this year posted the school district's best results ever on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test, according to results released by the state Monday morning.
Three-quarters of Alachua County third-graders who took the FCAT this year are reading at or above grade level, compared to 69 percent last year.
Alachua County's third-graders also bettered last year's math scores. Results released Monday showed that 71 percent of them performed at or above grade level in mathematics, compared to 69 percent last year.
Results also showed that fewer third-graders performed at the lowest level this year than last year. This year, 14 percent of students read at a first-grade level, compared to 17 percent last year.
