Kurtz wasn't shoved out

Many of us appreciate the fiscal expertise which Mike Kurtz brought to GRU.
That said, The Sun has misstated the case by claiming that the City Commission "shoved him out the door." Kurtz began looking for another job two years ago. It is unfair to say the commission forced him out when he decided to leave before members of this commission were even elected!
Last year the mayor asked Kurtz to bring his contract in conformity with other charter officers by releasing his six month severance provision. Mike refused last year and refused again this year. The Commission then offered him one year severance - a quite liberal offer for the public sector.
Mike made the choice to leave and has been lame duck since. If anything the Commission was exceedingly generous and appreciative of his decades of service. Please do not try the Commission by innuendo when the facts of a longtime plan to resign are well known.
