Commissioner Braddy arrested for DUI

Gainesville City Commissioner Ed Braddy was arrested Wednesday night for driving under the influence after his van struck another vehicle on NW 6th Street near NW 9th Avenue, according to a police reports.



Braddy was arrested after his van struck another vehicle travelling in the same direction at about 10:30 p.m. , causing about $600 worth of damage, according to the report. The driver of the other vehicle identified Braddy as the driver and sole occupant of the van, according to the report.

Braddy's blood-alcohol level was between .181 and .184 and he performed poorly on a field sobriety exam, according to the report. A person is considered legally drunk if their blood-alcohol level exceeds .08.

Braddy was booked into the Alachua County Jail at 1 a.m. Thursday, according to records from the Alachua County Sheriff's Office.
