The School Board's refusal to try to obtain reduced electric rates from GRU is difficult to understand. An important function of the School Board is to see that the district makes the most efficient use of the funds available to it. Members should jump at a chance to save a significant amount of money in a way that does not adversely affect the education of our children.
Many thanks to The Gainesville Sun for its excellent editorial of Jan. 13 illustrating how other districts have saved much money by negotiating reduced energy rates. This is what our School Board should do.
