Slap School Board's hands

Kudos to The Gainesville Sun for exposing the lack of interest the School Board has in cost savings ideas ("Ruffle GRU's feathers," 1-13). It seems easier for some board members to criticize a fellow board member than to listen to a reasonable voice and seriously consider cost savings ideas.
I did not realize that the function of the School Board was to limit its debates to items proposed by the district's administration. I did not realize that an effective board member was one who censures and intimidates other board members who express independent ideas, frequently generated by concerned citizens. But I do realize I will vote against these anti-democratic intimidators at election time.
