I too have watched the construction of the $410,000 tennis courts for Gainesville High School with interest. In a "Since You Asked" article on Dec. 29, The Sun reported that GHS is the last high school in the county to have its own tennis courts.
In fact, Loften High School does not have tennis courts. Loften lacks a gym, athletic fields, regulation basketball courts or pretty much any athletic facilities.
There are only five high schools in the state of Florida without their own gyms. Most are vocational schools like Loften. That tells you something, doesn't it.
