The sky is falling, the sky is falling! There's a fox in the hen house! All is lost! Get out while you still can!
Jeepers, if you read the twin diatribes in "Voice of the People" by Donna Tuckey and Carolyn Schreiber on Friday the 13th, you might come to the conclusion that confirmation of a conservative Supreme Court justice - in this case Samuel Alito (extremely well qualified) - is going to send this great country to heck in a handbasket. I disagree.
The U.S. has survived and prospered for over 200 years with the balance of power between the Legislative, Judicial, and Executive branches shared fairly, if not always, in harmony. If I had to guess, I think Tuckey's and Schreiber's discomfort stems more from a panic that a large majority of our citizens are shifting back toward moderate and conservative stances and away from the vitriol and socialist leanings of far leftism.
Instead of teaching our poor and our children to expect government handouts, let's teach them to value hard work and their fellow citizens.
