It is my hope that Alachua County residents have received a copy of our 2006 Annual Report Calendar we mailed out recently. The report, produced and mailed at a cost of 56 cents each, includes financial information, accomplishments, service contact information and much more about Alachua County.
This year's annual report is an effort to update you on information important to county residents, be accountable to you in showing the activities and finances of your county government and hopefully, earn your trust. Please call us at 374-5226 if you did not receive your report.
This year I urge you to help us by sharing your opinions and viewpoints on county issues and services by filling out the enclosed survey. The 2006 survey is located at the very back of the report. Please tear it out, fill it out, and drop it in the mail before January 31. No stamp needed. If you prefer, the survey can be completed online at
All of the information received in the survey will be included in a comprehensive report to the County Commission early this year. My past experience with surveys has shown that they are an excellent tool for measuring the pulse of the community, but only if you respond.
We want your opinions on the major issues and challenges the county faces. We recognize we often hear from a limited portion of citizens on limited agenda items each meeting. This is an opportunity for all citizens to let us know what they are concerned about.
I hope you enjoy your calendar throughout the new year. All of us in county government are looking forward to hearing from you. Help us serve you better.
Randall H. Reid, County manager, Gainesville
